"Fallen Matriarch"
By Lynne Anzelc

Bristlecone

f/11, 1/100, ISO 100, focal length 17

This Bristlecone, taken with a Canon EOS 50D and EF17-40 lens, is located in East Central CA, in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains along Hwy 395. This fallen Bristlecone Pine was at approximately 11-12,000 ft, looking out over Owens Valley at the Sierra Nevada, just below Schulman Grove.

"Your picture perfectly illustrates the survival of these ancient trees, that grow where no other plants compete with them. This one is popping right out of the rocks! Great capture of this knarled trunk and the beautiful eastern sierras background. "
